Cuckoo Meadow recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their children. All of the staff see themselves as partners with parents in providing care and education for their children. There are many ways in which parents take part in making Pre-School a welcoming and stimulating place.
We have a dated rota which parents can sign if they would like to help at a particular session or sessions. Helping at pre-school allows you to see what our day-to-day life is like and to join in helping the children to get the best out of their activities. Most importantly, the children absolutely love it when mums, dads and grandparents come and help out!
We operate an email list for sending out information and updates to parents. If you would like to be included on this, please pass your email address to staff for addition to the list.
Can we please remind you that if you need to collect your child early from Pre-School you should come to the main door and ring the bell rather than opening up the gate and coming into the playground. This is to ensure the children’s safety.
Please try to ensure your child is wearing footwear appropriate to the weather. Staff do try to ensure that the children go outside to play where possible and sadly we haven’t quite reached summer footwear stage yet!
For parents that don’t know we have a comments book hanging on the notice board outside and we would welcome any comments you may have relating to Pre-School. It may be that your child has particularly enjoyed an activity, or really liked the snack that was offered at a session, we would appreciate any feedback you can give us!
When the sun is shining and it is looking like a hot day in prospect, could you please ensure children are sent into Pre-School wearing sun cream and with a (named) sun hat. Please can you also remember that crocs and flip-flops are not appropriate footwear for Pre-School sessions.
If you are planning a holiday in term time we would be grateful if you could give us plenty of notice. We have a holiday bear in pre-school who is very well travelled and is in need of a holiday, so please ask if he is available for you to take with you. The children love to take him away and he really is little bother.
