Hello from Cuckoo Meadow we hope you all enjoyed the Easter break. On Thursday this week, 25th April we will be holding our sports day (weather permitting) so don’t forget to bring in your FULL Smarties tubes so the children can hand them in at the end of their walk around the Meadow. Please check your parent mail on sports day so that we can keep you updated on whether the event will take place.
We would also like to inform you of another day closure all thanks to Brexit! We will be closed on Thursday 23rd May for polling.
As the weather is now on the up could you please ensure that your child brings a hat which has been named into preschool each day.
On Thursday 25th April we will be holding a small sports day from 2-3pm. Please come along and cheer your little ones on as they have some fun on the meadow.
The last event will be a run around the meadow. We will be sending home a smarties tube and sponsor form for each child this week. The children will each be completing a sponsored walk of 10 laps of the meadow between now and sports day to raise money for their pre-school. Please try and fill your smarties tube with any change to help support them and the school.
The children can then give in their filled tube at the end of the final lap.
Tea and cake will be available to buy. Now let’s just hope the sun comes out to play too!
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow. Just a quick reminder parents evening is Tuesday 19th March, if you haven’t booked your ten minute slot please ask a member of staff to add you to the list.
If you would like to order any name tags for your children’s clothes, lunch boxes, shoes etc speak to us and we can put you in touch with an excellent company which also gives us some commission. As these are sticky labels there is no sewing involved and they stay firmly in place.
Another way to earn some much needed commission for pre-school is whilst you are shopping online go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/cuckoomeadowpreschool before making any purchases.
That’s all for now, enjoy your weekend.
Just a quick reminder that Friday 15th February is the last day of half term. We return to preschool on Monday 25th February. We would also like to remind you that happy bags to school will be collecting any unwanted clothing, bags, shoes etc on Monday 25th. If you would like to bring in the bags before half term we can store them in the garage.
Following on from Kat’s (Mrs Andrews’) Action Research Project introducing Makaton signing into the setting, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has participated. We have all learnt a lot about another way of communicating and we have had lots of fun in preschool with the songs and signs! A questionnaire has been handed out and we would be grateful if you could return it with your feedback by this Thursday 14th February
We hope you all have a great half term.

As you have probably noticed, we have been sending empty Happy School Bags home to you to fill with any unwanted clothes or shoes for collection on Monday 25th February. This is our first day back to pre-school after the half term break. The back of the bag tells you what other items you may donate. If you have already had a ‘sort out’ and the bags are in the way at home, you can bring them into pre-school and we can store them until their collection.
This half term we will be looking at winter weather. We have already made mittens to keep our hands warm and hats, both of which are displayed in the pre-school, so why not have a look at these when you are next in pre-school? Also have a look at our wonderful 3D polar bears all of which the children have realy enjoyed making. Look out for more winter activities as the term goes on.
Over the next few weeks, Kat is doing a small Action Research Project as part of her course. The project involves introducing Makaton signing into the setting together with some fun songs. We would like your support and approval as research participants and therefore would like your consent, a form will be at pre-school for you to sign. We are fully supportive of this project and hope you will be too.
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow on the last week of term.
We would like to remind you of the plans for the end of term. Friday 21st December is the Pre School Nativity, there are no sessions on that day. Please bring your child into preschool no later than 10.15 already dressed in their costume. After the performance you will be able to buy refreshments in the Doris Cook room which is the room nearest the car park. Why not enjoy a mince pie and a cuppa before the arrival of Father Christmas who will arrive on a pony and trap. The children will witness his arrival outside so please ensure that you bring in a warm coat for them and you!
After the children have received their presents from Father .Christmas that will conclude our festive fun, please ensure you remember to take all your belongings home with you.
We are collecting library books in for the Christmas period so as not to get lost during the festivities!
We return to Pre school on Monday 7th January, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.
