Just a quick reminder that Friday 15th February is the last day of half term. We return to preschool on Monday 25th February. We would also like to remind you that happy bags to school will be collecting any unwanted clothing, bags, shoes etc on Monday 25th. If you would like to bring in the bags before half term we can store them in the garage.
Following on from Kat’s (Mrs Andrews’) Action Research Project introducing Makaton signing into the setting, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has participated. We have all learnt a lot about another way of communicating and we have had lots of fun in preschool with the songs and signs! A questionnaire has been handed out and we would be grateful if you could return it with your feedback by this Thursday 14th February
We hope you all have a great half term.

As you have probably noticed, we have been sending empty Happy School Bags home to you to fill with any unwanted clothes or shoes for collection on Monday 25th February. This is our first day back to pre-school after the half term break. The back of the bag tells you what other items you may donate. If you have already had a ‘sort out’ and the bags are in the way at home, you can bring them into pre-school and we can store them until their collection.
This half term we will be looking at winter weather. We have already made mittens to keep our hands warm and hats, both of which are displayed in the pre-school, so why not have a look at these when you are next in pre-school? Also have a look at our wonderful 3D polar bears all of which the children have realy enjoyed making. Look out for more winter activities as the term goes on.
Over the next few weeks, Kat is doing a small Action Research Project as part of her course. The project involves introducing Makaton signing into the setting together with some fun songs. We would like your support and approval as research participants and therefore would like your consent, a form will be at pre-school for you to sign. We are fully supportive of this project and hope you will be too.
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow on the last week of term.
We would like to remind you of the plans for the end of term. Friday 21st December is the Pre School Nativity, there are no sessions on that day. Please bring your child into preschool no later than 10.15 already dressed in their costume. After the performance you will be able to buy refreshments in the Doris Cook room which is the room nearest the car park. Why not enjoy a mince pie and a cuppa before the arrival of Father Christmas who will arrive on a pony and trap. The children will witness his arrival outside so please ensure that you bring in a warm coat for them and you!
After the children have received their presents from Father .Christmas that will conclude our festive fun, please ensure you remember to take all your belongings home with you.
We are collecting library books in for the Christmas period so as not to get lost during the festivities!
We return to Pre school on Monday 7th January, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow.
The tea towels have arrived and they look fantastic, if you have ordered any please bring in your money as soon as possible and collect them.
As the nativity is now only two weeks away we would like to ask you to supply a raffle prize for the day. These can be brought into preschool from next Monday.
We are practising our Christmas songs so could you please sing Jingle Bella, Twinkle Twinkle, We wish you a Merry Christmas Father Christmas he got stuck and Christmas Pudding, your child will already know these songs so could you sing them at every opportunity.
That’s all for now have a great weekend.
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow at the beginning of a new week. In preschool this week we will be making hedgehogs covered in leaves and trees with leaves made from corks.
At the end of the week we will be celebrating Children In Need by making biscuits and other Pudsey related activities. You can bring your child to preschool on Thursday and Friday dressed in any kind of spotty clothes or accessories and we will have our special Pudsey Bear donation tin for you to make a donation of £1 or more for a very worthy cause.
Hello from Cuckoo Meadow at the end of our first week back. We have had a lovely week looking at Halloween.
We’ve made pumpkins to go on our pumpkin patch, pumpkin biscuits, ghosts and pumpkin scones. The scones were a huge success and were enjoyed by everyone at snack time no refusals at all! so if you would like the recipe please check out our Facebook page.
As we have a smaller number of children attending preschool this term we have been exploring different ways of fundraising and it was suggested by a parent at our recent committee meeting that we ask all parents that whilst they are shopping they add a couple of extra items to their trolleys such as wet wipes, tissues, kitchen roll, paper plates and any kind of craft resources such as stickers, paper, card, felt tip pens or anything we could use for Christmas activities. These donations will make a huge difference to your preschool and we would be very grateful to receive them. Thank you.
Big news! Even though we are smaller in number we are still going ahead with our Christmas nativity this year. However, we will be holding it here in preschool on Friday 21st December at 10.30 which is the last day of term. More details to follow nearer the time.
That’s all for now have a great weekend.
